Today, Morena members will also elect the president of the party’s National Executive Committee (CEN) and the Secretary-General. Luisa María Alcalde, the current Secretary of the Interior, is a candidate for the CEN presidency and has the support of federal deputies, AMLO, and other top party officials.

The individuals elected today will take office immediately, with the new members of the National Executive Committee set to assume their roles on October 1. Alcalde Luján is expected to complete her term as Secretary of the Interior on September 30.
