AMLO Sheinbaum Smooth Handover

As AMLO hands over to Sheinbaum, Rosa Icela assures a seamless transition for Mexico with coordination and transparency, ensuring uninterrupted government services.

### Smooth and Harmonious Transition Between AMLO and Sheinbaum, Says Rosa Icela

On August 26, 2024, the Coordination Table for the Transition was established, a collegiate body comprising both outgoing and incoming officials from the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the future government of President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Representing the Federal Government was the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde Luján. The incoming administration was represented by Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, who will soon hold the same position. She emphasized that the handover would be a “smooth and harmonious” process conducted with coordination and transparency.

“We are all part of the same team, and we are coordinating to ensure an orderly, responsible, and efficient transition,” declared Rodríguez Velázquez, the current Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, during the installation of the Coordination Table for the Transition.

Rodríguez Velázquez elaborated that all current federal public administration officials would work closely with the incoming government personnel. The goal is to ensure that no federal action is halted, thus avoiding any disruption to the public. She noted that almost a year ago, the Secretariat of Public Function had started accompanying this administrative process, achieving substantial progress based on relevant laws.

“Following the issuance of the majority certificate to President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo by the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation, efforts for the setup of the Coordination Table for the Transition began,” Rodríguez Velázquez added.

Luisa María Alcalde Luján, the current Secretary of the Interior, affirmed that the coordination table would function as a temporary collegiate body involving both the legal and expanded cabinets in their current functions and the designated incoming cabinet.

“The table will be presided over by the secretaries of the interior, facilitating efficient communication between departments and following up on agreements. We will address any issues or concerns that might arise,” Alcalde Luján stated.

According to Alcalde Luján, each agency head must establish their own transition tables involving subsecretariats, administrative and financial units, legal departments, or equivalents, along with other key personnel.

“We urge each dependency to get started. After formal approvals from the electoral tribunal, we ask that respective transition tables be established promptly, including those public servants designated by the President-elect,” Alcalde Luján concluded.

Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez shared her sentiments on social media, writing, “As instructed by President @lopezobrador_ and President-elect @Claudiashein, today we installed the Coordination Table for the Transition, aiming for an orderly handover between outgoing and incoming cabinets.”
