**Águilas Preseason Set to Begin**
A total of 58 players are vying to make the roster of Águilas de Mexicali for the upcoming 2024-2025 season of the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico (LMP). The team, under the guidance of manager Roberto “Chapo” Vizcarra and his coaching staff, will kick off their preseason training starting Friday, September 6 at the Ciudad Deportiva facility. The hopeful roster includes 34 pitchers, 6 catchers, 13 infielders, and 5 outfielders.
Post rigorous training sessions, the team will debut in competitive action during the Baja Series in La Paz, Baja California Sur from September 20 to September 22, facing off against the Algodoneros de Guasave and Cañeros de Los Mochis. Following this, they will participate in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta in Phoenix, Arizona from September 26 to September 29. The preseason games will wrap up in Tucson, Arizona from October 1 to October 6, where they will go head-to-head with Charros de Jalisco, Yaquis de Obregón, Mayos de Navojoa, Algodoneros de Guasave, and Naranjeros de Hermosillo. The official season will commence on October 11 in Mexicali, with Águilas hosting Sultanes de Monterrey.

Five athletes from Baja California are set to represent Mexico in the final stage of the World Triathlon Championship from October 17 to October 20 in Torremolinos, Andalucía, Spain. The athletes include Axel Flores, Andrés González, César Torres, Joshua Rueda, and Óscar Navarro.
Javier González, president of the State Triathlon Association, emphasized the importance of international exposure for the athletes. He particularly noted the training regimen of Andrés González, who has been preparing intensively at the National High-Performance Center in Mexico City after his victory at the World Championship in Germany. The triathletes will compete in the Sprint Triathlon category, which includes a 750-meter swim, 20 kilometers of cycling, and a 5-kilometer run.
### Border Battle Tournament at Arena Zonkeys
The third annual Border Battle, a cross-border tournament held at Arena Zonkeys, culminated with Grúas El Nacional being crowned champions. They defeated the Balboa Roughriders from Florida, with additional teams from Los Angeles (Cooper), San Diego (Cardinals and Signet Royalty), and regional teams from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, CETYS Universidad Campus Mexicali, and Tijuana Zonkeys youth teams. The tournament benefits the non-profit organization Tijuana Sin Hambre.
